AIG Augustina Ogbodo Assumes Duty as New AIG Maritime Police Command

The Maritime Police Command at the Force Headquarters Annex, Obalende, Lagos, welcomes its new Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Augustina Ogbodo, marking a significant milestone in her illustrious career.

AIG Ogbodo, a native of Enugu South Local Government Area, Enugu State, brings a wealth of experience and strategic leadership to the command.
“AIG Ogbodo is one of the finest police officers of our time,” said ASP Ihende Kelvin, the Public Relations Officer of the Maritime Police Command.

“She is a thorough-bred officer, a police officer extraordinaire.”

Ogbodo holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Diploma in Police Science from the Police Staff College, Jos. She has attended numerous advanced courses, including the Advanced Detective Course (2002), Intermediate Command Course (2006), Strategic Planning and Intelligence-led Policing (2009), and Strategic Leadership and Command Course (2017). These trainings have shaped her into an exceptional leader with a broad understanding of the police force’s operational and strategic needs.

Throughout her career, AIG Ogbodo has served in various formations across the country, including the Lagos State Police Command, Benue State Police Command, and the Force Headquarters Annex in Obalende, Lagos. “Her experience in these key formations has prepared her for the challenges of leading the Maritime Police Command,” Ihende added.

Ogbodo’s leadership style is rooted in transparency, community engagement, and inter-agency collaboration. Her administrative policies emphasize open communication with the public, fostering strong ties with community stakeholders, and working closely with sister agencies to ensure effective policing. “One of her key policies is free and unrestricted access to the formation and its officers,” said ASP Ihende.
“She believes in opening up multiple communication channels between the formation and the general public.”

Before her current posting, Ogbodo held the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP) and served as the CP in charge of Welfare at Force Headquarters in Abuja. She was also the 26th and third female Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, where she distinguished herself through exemplary leadership and dedication to duty. “She showcased her professional skills and ended her tenure victoriously,” Ihende noted.

AIG Ogbodo’s new role as the head of the Maritime Police Command is expected to bring enhanced coordination, improved security measures, and stronger stakeholder engagement. Her tenure is anticipated to continue driving collaboration between the command, the public, and the media, which she views as “partners in progress.”

As she assumes her new responsibilities, all eyes are on AIG Augustina Ogbodo to continue her remarkable track record of service and innovation in policing.
