There are concerns in some quarters of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) over its forthcoming National Executive Committee (NECOM) elections, even as aspirants have alleged that the final list of voters presented by the Associations Electoral Committee (ASECO) was doctored to accommodate fake practicing Licenses.

A prominent contestant who pleaded anonymity in a chat with our correspondent made the allegations on Wednesday, even as he vowed that the fake license peddlers shall be arrested at election venue on Thursday at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos and thereafter prosecuted.

The contestant equally called on the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adenioyi and his management team to urgently wade in and stop the said fake licenses from been used during the election, adding that the customs service quick intervention will avert the bad image the development may give to the service.

According to him, the Licenses and Permits Unit of the Customs appears to have been infiltrated by some Association persons in order to push out fake Licenses.

Speaking, he said “By power of the BOT and the Customs Consultative Committee (CCC), all aspirant have power to carryout investigation on these Licenses. We have done our own and found out that some persons are parading fake Licenses.

“About three people who have been identified and have even testified before the BOT earlier that they don’t have licenses, suddenly have appeared with licenses.

“Money have exchanged hand with the Customs Licenses and Permits in Abuja, hence, people that do not have licenses for the past eight years now coming forward” he alleged

Meanwhile, the ASECO final list of cleared Contestants has 19 aspirants to various positions. While the final list of eligible voters cleared by the ASECO stands at 77 delegates.
