Even as the elections into the National Executive Committee (NECOM) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) the Board of Trustees (BOT) has been in a protracted meeting with the contestants since Saturday, even as the meeting is still inconclusive.
The meeting is to agree on contending issues, petitions and modalities for the coming election which must be agreed upon by contestants and the Association Electoral Committee (ASECO)
DAILY TREND however gathered that, there has been complaints against some members of the ASECO that they do not have valid licenses to enable them seat as an Ombudsman in the coming elections.
On the strength of the allegations, the BOT on Sunday directed all members of ASECO to submit their licenses for investigation by a committee which is reportedly headed by ANLCA former President and BOT member, Sir Earnest Elochukwu.
In a chat with DAILY TREND, one of the contestants said the meeting on Sunday was a stalemate and is continuing today.
He said “The only assignment for now is that committee has been form to look into petition against aseco members without valid licence.
Chief Elochukwu is the Head of the committee”
Also speaking with our correspondent, the National Publicity Secretary (NPS) aspirant, Comrade Ayokunle Sulaiman said “Another meeting is going to hold today, and the end of today, hopefully, we should know the next direction to follow, but as it is, everything is pending
“However, campaign will continue and the election is likely to come up. We all know what the ANLCA Constitution says, but by interpretation, some believe the election should hold by AGM, while some believe it should be by collegiate, only the board can give direction on this right now, not even ASECO again, and that is what we are still waiting for” he said.
