ANLCA Elections: CRFFN Says Contestants Must Have Diploma in Freight Forwarding

Even as the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) is drawing near to its elections into various offices at National and Chapter levels, the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) has said that contestants for office of National President and National Secretary of ANLCA must have an Ordinary diploma or Executive Diploma in freight forwarding from any of the institutions approved by CRFFN.

Acting Registrar of CRFFN Mrs Chinyere Uromta stated this in a letter written to the Acting President of ANLCA, Dr Kayode Farinto on 5th of April 2023.

The Council has also reiterated that any member who aspire to contest the ANLCA election must be registered with CRFFN, and must pay all it’s financial dues to the Council up to date.

The Council also urged ANLCA as an association to ensure that it has paid membership dues with the Council before the elections.

The letter reads in part: “Please be informed that in line with the powers of the Council by virtue of Act 16 of 2007 and Regulations 2010 which deals with condition of practice as a Freight Forwarder, every contestant for the office of National President and National Secretary must have obtained an Ordinary Diploma or Executive Diploma in Freight forwarding practice in any of the council’s accredited Institution.

“This is a prerequisite to contesting for the above offices in addition to your conditions, while every Corporate License as a voter must be registered and up to date in their payment to the Council.

“Furthermore, we wish to remind the Association to pay for their membership dues with the Council while informing and reminding the general members of the Association that the condition to practice as a Freight Forwarder is to obtain an Ordinary Diploma or Executive Diploma in Freight Forwarding and that by January 2024, no one will be allowed to practice except with this minimum Qualification” she said
