Lagos Govt Confirms 1 Dead, 4 Injured As Container Truck Falls on Vehicles Along Apapa Oshodi


The Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has said that it rescued passengers inside a commercial bus that involved in an accident with a 40fts container along Apapa- Oshodi expressway.

Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department LASTMA, Mr Taofiq Adebayo, said in a statement that the accident took place by PM Filling Station, Cele inward Mile 2 area of Lagos.

Adebayo said the accident which occurred around 1:09p:m had the driver of a commercial bus (AKD 469 XZ) died instantly.

He said that the accident also involved two other private cars involved in the accident (Toyota Highlander AGL 366 FP & Toyota 4Runner AAA 353 FH).

Adebayo said that the corpse of the dead commercial bus driver had been handed over to his wife and family members who came to the accident scene.

He said that other passengers rescued by LASTMA officials were handed over to Medical personnel (Emergency Responder) who came to the accident scene.

The Pem. Sec. Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said in a statement that further information gathered at the scene revealed that the truck driver lost control due to mechanical fault (brake failure).

Oke-Osanyintolu said that the driver lost control while at top speed, before ramming into the vehicles ahead of it.

He said that unfortunately an adult male bus driver lost his life to the incident while the injured victims, four in number Three males and a female had been transported to hospital.
