Stop Impersonating Our Registered Name, Merchant Sail Navy Warns Illegal Groups
The Merchant Sail Navy International Security, popularly known as “Sail Navy” has dissociated itself from illegal marine associations operating as merchant Navy in Nigeria, even as it warned some maritime associations from impersonating with her registered name.
In a press statement issued on Thursday by leader of the group Capt. JohnLinus Okoronkwo, he said the Sail Navy is a Reserve Marine that is made up of Nigeria Citizens, which is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission Abuja, and that it operates under the Laws of Corporate and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to Capt. JohnLinus, the CAC registered the group on 10th of December 2019 specifically to carry on the business of protecting Lives and Properties, and implementing the objectives of the Local Contents Act and other Relevant Shipping Laws.
Others according to him, is “To Carry on the business of Establishing Ship Building Company. To Establish A World Standard Maritime Institution and Provide A Professional Maritime Training.
“To Provide Security Equipment and Professional Security.
To Provide Trained Security Dogs.
To Carry on the Business of Promoting Agriculture.
Stopping of Illegal Oil Activities.
To Regulate Maritime Activities And Prevent Illegal Oil Production such as Bunkering. To Carry on the Business of General Contracts, and General Merchandise.
“The more license we acquire the more operation and Business we carry out.
“The Merchant Sail Navy
provides operational support to the Nigerian Military and other Security Agencies, together with assisting in preventing conflict and safeguarding Nigeria Citizens.
“Some years ago some individuals formed Merchant Navy in Nigeria and where involved in impersonating the Nigerian Navy which was officially tagged illegal because there was no evidence of Association Registration, until the year 2019 December 10th, the Name Merchant Sail Navy International Security popularly known as SAIL NAVY was established and incorporated under the Corporate Affairs Commission Abuja.”
“We have submitted a letter of Awareness to the Nigerian Security Agencies, the Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Police Force, the DSS, Civil Defense and others even to the Court that we are registered with the name Merchant Sail Navy International Security popularly known as Sail Navy which we attached our documents to it.
“People can enroll in our association through our 5 days Membership Induction programs not by Recruitment
” I have made a newspaper publication under the West Africa Business Newspaper, describing our association uniform as Navy blue Up and down and we uses Sail Navy I.d card, we don’t use Military camouflage and Navy I.d Card” he said
Speaking further, Capt JohnLinus said the group has a Standard ranking structure that ends with Captain, which is different from the Nigerian Navy and the Seafarers Standard.
He assured that the Merchant Sail Navy as a Reserve Marine will help to reduce Criminality, Piracy, Banditry, Kidnapping, unemployment and impersonation cases in the Country which will help to restore peace in Nigeria.
