LASTCOC Urges Truck Operators to Avoid Planned Nationwide Protest, Protect Nation’s Assets

The Lagos State Truck and Cargo Operators Committee (LASTCOC) have called on all truck operators around the state and seaports to stay clear of the planned nationwide protest on August 1st 2024, even as it urged members to protect the nation’s assets from being destroyed.

Chairman of LASTCOC, Alhaji Lukman Shittu Zangalo sounded the appeal on Thursday in a statement, even as he urged truck drivers to maintain peace, as the protest could dangerous consequences on lives, businesses and families.

The statement which was obtained by DAILY TREND reads “The Chairman of Lagos Truck and Cargo Operators Committee (LASTCOC) Alhaji Lukman Shittu Zangalo has called on truck operators in Lagos State to stay away from any protest in the interest of peace and progress of our country.

“If we know the beginning of the protest, we don’t know its dangerous consequences on our lives, business, families, unity and peace of our country in the end”

The LASTCOC Chairman urged truck operators to join hands and pray for a better Nigeria.

The protest against economic hardship, which is gaining traction on social media, has been scheduled to be held across all states of the Federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in August.

The organisers of the protest have however been faceless.

The protest is triggered by the fact that prices of food and basic commodities have gone through the roof in the last months, as Nigerians battle one of the country’s worst inflation and economic crisis sparked by the government’s twin policies of petrol subsidy removal and unification of forex windows.
