One of the protesting truck drivers during Tuesday’s EndSars protest was shot dead at the 1st gate of the Tin Can Island Port.

Eye witnesses who sent the video recordings to DAILY TREND NEWS said the truckers were trying to forcefully gain access into the Tin Can Port and this made the police to open fire on them.

Some of the truck drivers allegedly destroyed several properties at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) officer at the Tin Can Port, but they were resisted from entering into the port gate by the police.

The lifeless body of the truck driver was seen lying on the floor while his blood was all over the newly constructed Port access road.

When our correspondent contacted the leadership of the truck drivers union for comment on the dead driver, non of them responded.

The transporters, truck drivers and freight forwarders yesterday crippled commercial activities at the Tin Can Island Port and the Apapa port, demanding an end to extortions by security agencies including the police, the Nigerian Customs, the Army and the Presidential Task Team headed by Comrade Kayode Opeifa.

The truck drivers lamented that not less than N270,000 is used to bribe security agencies between Mile 2 and the Tin Can Port before they can gain access into the port.

They also complained about extortions from the Presidential Task Team on Apapa Gridlock, saying that the task force should be disbanded as it has overstayed its relevance at the port.
