AMARTO Kickstarts Training for 300 Truck Drivers

The Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMARTO) has announced that it has commenced training for 300 truck drivers so as to reduced frequent roads crashes involving containerized trucks.

Chairman of AMARTO, Chief Remi Ogungbemi confirmed this exclusively to DAILY TREND NEWS on Tuesday.

The training according to him is being carried out in conjunction with the Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI)
He said that all truck drivers have been directed to attend LASDRI Test for Certification as directed by Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.

“We embarked on this measure purposely to guide against frequent crashes and basically in sensitivity to the authorities and public outcry on frequent crashes involving containerized trucks”

“Equally, we always felt very pained seen this accidents, as we all know Life is sacred, any life lost, is lost forever, and victims are Fathers, Mothers, Childrens and relations of people, hence we are deeply very concerned and worried”

“Therefore, to ensure more safety on our roads, we have with immediate effect started our in-house cleansing with the following measures: Safety Jingles on Traffic Radio and Bon FM Radio”

“Day to day Safety inductions for Drivers at our Secretariat 4 Creek road Apapa. We also instructed our members that on no condition should they give or allow driver without Valid Driver’s Licence to drive their trucks”

“That they should ensure that their vehicle Particulars are up to date.
That all their Drivers should attend LASDRI Test for Certification as directed by Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
We also let them know the danger / implications of driving under influence of Drugs and Alcohol”

“Furthermore, I’m using this medium to commend all members that are complying and also to enjoying those that are yet to comply to do so inorder to avoid being caught by the law” Ogungbemi stated
