Retirement Wave Hits Customs as ACGs Olomu, Oladeji, Babandede, Edelduok, 6 Others Bow Out of Service

A long-awaited retirement wave has finally swept through the Nigeria Customs Service, with ten Assistant Comptrollers-General (ACGs) retiring from the service after putting in 35 years of meritorious service each.
DAILY TREND reports that 825 officers are scheduled to retire in 2026, while another 691 are expected to leave the service in 2027, bringing the total number of exits within the two-year period to 1,516.
The retired ACGs and their respective departments are: Babatunde Olomu in charge of Post Clearance Audit, OP Olaniyan from Tariff and Trade; Mohammed Yusuf from Technical Services; and ACG Ilesanmi Kolapo Oladeji from Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection department.
Others are; ZM Gaji (ICT/Modernisation); NP Umoh (Zone B); Mohammed Babandede (Zone A); PC Chibuoke (Zone C); ACG Ibrahim Abba-Aji from Finance Administration & Special Duties, as well as ACG Joy Edelduok from Excise, Free Trade Zone & Industrial Incentives.
Beyond the ACGs, six Comptrollers from Zone A have also retired from the service. They are Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba of the Apapa Customs Command; Comptroller Hawah Abubakar of the Lagos Free Trade Zone Command, and Comptroller Patrick Ntadi of the Western Marine Command.
Others are Comptroller Chidi Nwokorie of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command; Comptroller O.O. Akingbade of the Ogun II Command; and Comptroller Gambo Aliyu of the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A.
