The freight forwarding industry stood still for the Vice President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Prince Segun Oduntan, on Sunday, March 22, 2026, when he threw a lavish party to mark his 60th birthday in Lagos.

Chairperson of the Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN), Olori Vicky Haastrup of Owa Obokun Kingdom, Ijesha Land, served as mother of the day.

The event was attended by notable faces including former President of ANLCA, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, ANLCA National Executive Committee members led by its President, Emenike Nwokeoji, serving and retired Customs officers including Kayode Kolade and his wife Toyin Kolade, bonded terminal operators, ANLCA chapter chairmen, socialite Mayor Akinpelu, Royal fathers and many other dignitaries.

Speaking at the occasion, Olori Haastrup said: “It’s a thing of joy for me to witness the 60th birthday of my ‘aburo’ (younger brother) as I usually call him. A lot of you don’t know he is my aburo in whom I am well pleased.

“Segun is a man of many parts. If you look at him, you would say he is very tough — yes, Segun is tough, he is a no-nonsense man, but behind that toughness, he is a very soft man and very loving. Segun is a straightforward man, there is no hanky-panky with him. What you see is what you get. He would not lie to you on anything. Wherever he is, he would tell you his position on things and that stands.

“He is a loyal person, a sensible person and a complete family man. You can tell from what his beautiful children have said about him.”

Olori Haastrup went on to shower the celebrant and his family with blessings and prayers, calling for upliftment, long life and continued success in business.

The celebrant’s wife, Mrs Funmilayo Oduntan, also took the floor to sing the praises of her husband, showering him with kind words and affection.
Funmilayo described her husband as a go-getter, taking the audience down memory lane to 36 years ago in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where the young Oduntan would stand daily on the balcony of his home to watch her leave for work.

Narrating balcony romance tale, she said
“36 years ago, there was this beautiful damsel that would wake up in the morning and go to work. And there was this handsome young man that would stand at the balcony of his house every morning, watching this beautiful girl passing. He is a go-getter.

“There were two of them then, he and his friend Adeoye. He told his friend that ‘this is my wife,’ not knowing that the same friend was nursing the same ambition of having the lady for himself.

“But my husband, whom God has destined for me to marry, was a go-getter. He made sure that he got that damsel, which is I, today. He did all sorts of efforts, he called people to help him woo her, but at the end of the day, we are together today and we would be together forever.”

She described her husband as a giver even when it is not convenient for him, a people-oriented man and a hardworker. She wished him good health and a sound mind at 60.
