Thousands of supporters of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), the leading All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant ahead of the party’s December 13 primary election in Osun State, on Tuesday trooped out for a six-kilometre “Unity Walk” in Osogbo, the state capital.

The walk, themed “Walk for Unity and Progress,” began at the Osogbo City Stadium and ended at IleriOluwa, Ogo-Oluwa area of the city.

It attracted a massive crowd of party faithful, youths, artisans, market women, and political associates — a turnout many observers described as a clear indication of Oyebamiji’s rising grassroots appeal ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

Supporters, decked in branded shirts and caps, chanted solidarity songs and waved placards with inscriptions such as “AMBO for Osun 2026” and “A New Dawn for Osun.”

Traffic was briefly slowed as the crowd marched through major routes including Omo West, Ayetoro, Igbonna, Olonkoro, Old Garage, MDS and Olaiya before converging at Ogo-Oluwa, where leaders of the AMBO Movement addressed participants.

Addressing the crowd, the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, commended the huge turnout and described it as proof of Oyebamiji’s broad-based acceptance.

“This is glaring, as you can see for yourself — seeing is believing. Our people willingly came out to register their support for the leading gubernatorial aspirant of our party, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO,” Owoeye said.

He further reaffirmed the readiness of the people to mobilize for both Oyebamiji’s victory and the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Also speaking, the Executive Director, Marine Operations at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mr. Olalekan Badmus, described the show of love and solidarity from Osun residents as overwhelming and commendable.

“This is not just a political gathering; it is a movement of faith and conviction. The people of Osun have spoken through their feet today,” Badmus said.

Similarly, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, expressed delight over the impressive turnout, describing it as “a divine endorsement” of Oyebamiji’s aspiration.

“We are here to prove a point, and our people have demonstrated that. The massive turnout recorded today further testifies that Oyebamiji’s candidature is a product of God’s grace. We are resolute and committed, and by God’s grace, we shall triumph,” Adeleke declared.

Other dignitaries who participated in the walk included former Osun State House of Assembly member Hon. Taofeek Badamosi Abolubode, Hon. Segun Ayodele Fanibe, Hon. Kayode Oduoye, Hon. Lateef Adebisi Jayeola, and Hon. Abiola Olaniyan, among others.

Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, a seasoned administrator and financial expert, served as Osun State Commissioner for Finance before his appointment in 2023 as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) by President Bola Tinubu.

Under his leadership, NIWA has embarked on reforms to enhance inland waterways safety, increase revenue generation, and strengthen collaboration with state governments on marine infrastructure development.

Political observers attribute Oyebamiji’s growing influence to his reputation for fiscal discipline, humility, and inclusive leadership. His tenure as finance commissioner was marked by innovative budgeting, transparency, and strong inter-agency cooperation, earning him respect within and outside Osun.

Participants at the Unity Walk described Oyebamiji as “a man of the people.”

A trader from Oke-Fia, Mrs. Yetunde Akinbami, said she joined the rally to show support for a leader who listens.
“AMBO is one of us; he cares about ordinary people. That’s why you see everyone coming out for him,” she said.
