Compt Joe Anani Announces N350.3billion Revenue Collection At PTML Customs Command

Six weeks after assuming office as the Customs Area Controller, PTML Command, Comptroller Joe Anani has disclosed that the command has so far generated a whooping N350, 347,173,787.92 as revenue from January to September 2025.
Speaking during a press conference at the command on Friday, Compt Anani stated that the revenue performance is N96.4% increase, almost equivalent of total collection of 2024 revenue of the command which stood at N362,521billion as total revenue for year 2024.
In the area of Anti-smuggling, the Customs boss disclosed that the command in the period under review intercepted firearms including; 1 pistol, 2 magazines and 12 rounds of live ammunition.
Others include; a 40 foot container carrying 6,662 cartons of unregistered antibiotics of various brands. Also, another 20foot container with number GCLU1275880 falsely declared as supermarket items, but upon 100 percent examination found to contain pharmaceutical drugs.
Compt Anani said the Duty Paid Value of the containers stands at N200million only.
In his address to journalists, he said “I took over a well organised command and under my watch, we have sustained the tempo in terms of revenue generation, trade facilitation, suppression of smuggling, stakeholders engagement, interagency collaboration and many more.
“As the pilot area for the Bodogwu trade platform, PTML has made huge success using the B’Odogwu platform and this is evident in our volume of trade process and revenue collected so far.
“Precisely looking at the month of July, August and September, compared to same period of 2024. In area of revenue, the command has maintained a steady increase in collection. This is happening despite the teething challenges of B’Odogwu which we are fast overcoming. From July to September 2025, we collected a total sum of N116.243,603,670, 58
“This is 34.3% higher than the N86,584billion collected same period of last year.
“From January to September, this command has recorded a total revenue collection of N350,347,173,787.92
Three months to the end of 2025, we have made N96.4% almost equivalent of total collection of 2024.
This command collected N362,521,85253,86 as total revenue for last year.
“Our anti-smuggling drive remain intact without compromise. As a command, we are not compromising national security on the alter of trade facilitation.
“In the period under review, 1 pistol, 2 magazines and 12 rounds of live ammunition, 1 by 40 foot container carrying 6,662 cartons of antibiotics of various brands. Also, another 20foot container GCLU1275880 falsely declared as supermarket items, but upon 100 percent examination found to contain pharmaceutical drugs.
“The DPV of these two containers was N200million. In line with the collaboration policy trust of the CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the containers were handed over to the Director, Port Operations of NAFDAC” he said
While receiving the drugs from the Customs Boss, Director, Port Inspection Directorate for the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Dr Olakunle Olaniran commended the Nigeria Customs Service under the Comptroller-General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, as well as the PTML Command under Compt Anani for ensuring that products that are substandard are not allowed into the public space.
According to him, if the fake drugs had entered into the Nigerian society, it would have caused unimaginable damages including death.
“The products displayed here are products that are fast moving in the market. High Blood pressure control medicines are here, the antibiotics are here, when you see the packaging, you will not be able to differentiate this bad medicine from the good ones”
Dr Olaniran urged Nigerians to always patronise registered pharmaceutical shops when they in need to purchase pharmaceutical drugs.
“When you want to buy medicines, please patronise a licensed pharmacy where you would see a pharmacist to attend to you. Dont patronise hawkers and people moving about with briefcases” he said
