Chinedu Abanobi Shares Bold Vision for Africa’s Digital Foundations at 2025 Fieldbase Stakeholder Event

When Chinedu Abanobi, Managing Director of Fieldbase Services Limited, took the stage at the Fieldbase 2025 Stakeholder Event in Lagos, it wasn’t only to simply to welcome attendees it was to reframe how Africa’s infrastructure story is told
He discussed in an in-depth interview the company’s mission, its engineering-first philosophy, and the innovations set to redefine enterprise connectivity in Africa and beyond.
After introducing himself, Abanobi spoke with the measured clarity of someone deeply rooted in both technology and its real-world applications.
“At Fieldbase, we leverage technology and digital tools to unlock operational efficiency for businesses. It means we are using Starlink (LEO connectivity) to solve more problems—including ships sailing around Nigerian waters—and creating surveillance systems to ensure their vessels are intact.”
Fieldbase, founded in 2018, operates at the intersection of advanced connectivity and practical problem-solving.
Abanobi explained that the company’s “engineering-heavy” culture means solutions are designed with rigorous technical validation before deployment, prioritizing performance, reliability, and scalability over flash or hype.
“We take our time to engineer solutions. We try to build things and come up with new approaches that solve problems for our clients.”
This approach has already made a tangible impact. From building private networks for energy companies to delivering LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite-powered internet to underserved communities, Fieldbase’s teams are tackling some of Africa’s most pressing connectivity challenges.

Asked about current innovations, Abanobi highlighted several initiatives in development: advanced remote monitoring systems that integrate with IoT sensors, private network infrastructures tailored for high-security operations, and LEO-powered digital transformation packages for enterprises seeking both speed and resilience.
“We’re designing these systems with our clients’ operational realities in mind,” he noted.
“It’s not enough to be cutting-edge; it has to be fit-for-purpose. Our solutions solve problems for businesses in health care, oil and gas, or just small businesses looking to leverage technology to scale.”
Looking ahead, Abanobi revealed that Fieldbase is doubling down on its role as a leader in LEO connectivity solutions.
This includes expanding enterprise-grade Starlink integrations, developing hybrid network architectures for redundancy, and building platform tools to manage multi-site deployments from a single dashboard.
“We see LEO connectivity as a way to deliver different solutions to underserved and remote areas,” he explained.
“It’s an enabler of new ways of working and targeting new problems—from telemedicine to maritime surveillance to smart agriculture. We have built structures that will help you access data, CCTV feeds, and more.”
When asked about talent and partnerships, Abanobi stressed that Fieldbase’s success depends on people who thrive in complexity.
“We’re looking for people who know themselves—creative minds, and people who see possibilities to create. People with a new mindset, developers, and project managers who are not afraid of difficult environments,” he said.
“Partnerships are equally important. We collaborate with global satellite providers, local telecoms, and technology innovators who share our commitment to delivering results on the ground.”
