Alhaji Femi Anifowose, the Western Zone Coordinator of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), has lauded the one-year extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
The extension, announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was made public in a State House press statement signed by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy.
In a statement released on Friday, Alhaji Anifowose expressed profound delight at the President’s decision, describing it as a testament to the exemplary leadership and reformative initiatives of the Comptroller-General.
“This extension is a clear vote of confidence in Mr. Adeniyi’s ability to drive positive change and ensure the service operates with the highest level of efficiency and integrity.
We, at ANLCA, have been direct beneficiaries of the Comptroller-General’s dedication to improving trade facilitation.” he said
Anifowose highlighted several key initiatives under Adeniyi’s leadership that have positively impacted the customs brokerage community, including the ongoing modernization of the Nigeria Customs Service, the implementation of the National Single Window Project, and the execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol. He noted that these reforms are not merely administrative but are foundational improvements that will reshape the landscape of trade in the country.
The ANLCA Western Zone Coordinator concluded by reaffirming the association’s commitment to supporting the Comptroller-General in achieving the strategic mandates of revenue generation, border security, and seamless trade facilitation.
