Again, APFFLON Urges Customs CG, Adeniyi to Extend Validity of Customs Licenses to 2-Years

The Africa Association of Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has called on the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi to extend the validity of freight agents practicing licenses being issued by the service to two years.

Recall that the association had in April 2025 made the same call to the Customa CGC.

President of APFFLON, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite made the fresh call in a statement on Monday 23rd, June 2025, even as he congratulated the customs CGC on his two years in office.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to CG Adewale on his exemplary leadership at the Nigeria Customs Service. His tenure has been marked by significant achievements and a commitment to enhancing the operational landscape of customs in Nigeria” Ogunojemite stated.

While making an appeal for the extention of licenses validity, Otunba Ogunojemite said “In alignment with his vision for a more efficient customs process, we advocate for the implementation of a two-year license validity for freight forwarders.

“This change would serve as a commendable legacy for CG Adewale, transforming the industry by: enhancing operational efficiency A longer license validity period would reduce the administrative burdens on freight forwarders, allowing them to focus on their core operations and improve service delivery.

“Extending the validity period could motivate freight forwarders to adhere to regulations, thereby fostering a culture of compliance within the industry.
By providing stability through longer license validity, the policy could encourage more investment in freight forwarding services, leading to enhanced capacity and better infrastructure.

“A more robust framework for licensing would support the growth of the freight forwarding sector, ultimately benefiting the logistics and trade sectors in Nigeria.
