MWUN Dockworkers Election 2025: Warring Factions; Bolaji Agboola, Wole Adetumi Make Peace

Ahead of the forthcoming election into the Dockworkers Branch of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) two strong contenders for the position, Comrade Wole Adetumi Michael from Tin Can District 2 and Comrade Bolaji Agboola Akeem from Apapa district 1 have decided to bury the hatchet in the interest of industrial peace.

Recall that a strong protest had recently vibrated across the Lagos Ports by supporters of Comrade Adetumi who kicked against the injustice of the next Branch president emerging from Apapa Port, given the fact that the outgoing President, Comrade Tajudeen Ohize was equally from same ENL Terminal in Apapa.

However, DAILY TREND gathered exclusively that Comrade Adetumi have now conceded the coveted Dockworkers President to Comrade Bolaji Agboola, even as he agreed to settle for position of Branch Treasurer.

In order to further cement the newly found Peace, Comrade Adetumi and his large supporters paid a visit on Comrade Bolaji at the ENL Terminal recently where they publicly informed their teeming supporters of the new accord and to give peace a chance.

While receiving his visitors, Comrade Bolaji Agboola confirmed that “We have agreed to work together. For those that are still out there saying something else, we don’t want anybody spreading that falsehood again.
You have been seeing us and hearing us that both of us are now working together

“By the grace of almighty God, after the Ileya festival, we are still going to bring all the other chairmen so that all of us can come together.
We want to assure you that there is no more fighting, no more quarrelling, myself and Chairman Wole are now working together, No more War.

“I want to beg everyone, either you are from my side or from Comrade Wole’s side, there shouldn’t be any division among us. At Chairman Wole’ Tin Can Port, i have friends and family there, he equally has friends and families at Apapa here where I am.

“So, please don’t let us witch hunt anyone, majority of our followers are not here, but let us spread that message of love when we get back to them, tell them that between Wole and Bolaji, there is no more War or fighting between us”

Comrade Agboola urged his colleague, Comrade Wole join hands with him and elevate the union, given his wealth of experience on labor matters.
He also promised to reciprocate the visit to the Tin Can Port terminal alongside his team.

Comrade Agboola further acknowledged the importance of Wole Adetumi in the incoming administration, saying that “without Wole on my side, the train would not move well”

According to him “The Dockworkers presidency is no joke, we are going there to work for the interest of Dockworkers, and our first priority is the welfare of the Dockworkers”
