APFFLON Engages Lagos Commissioner of Police, Seeks Support for Freight Forwarders on Unregistered Vehicles

The National President of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, has paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, to discuss critical issues affecting freight forwarders, logistics operators, and stakeholders within the maritime industry.

During the visit, Otunba Ogunojemite highlighted several challenges faced by freight forwarders in the course of their operations, particularly those relating to the movement of cargo and logistics activities across Lagos State and other parts of the country.
He emphasized the need for continued collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and industry stakeholders to ensure a safe, conducive, and business-friendly environment.
A major aspect of the discussion centered on the recent directive by the Inspector-General of Police regarding the enforcement against unregistered vehicles across the country.
While APFFLON supports lawful enforcement aimed at enhancing security and proper vehicle documentation, the National President appealed for adequate sensitization and consideration for genuine operators,importers and dealers.
Otunba Ogunojemite noted that freight forwarding and logistics services play a vital role in facilitating trade, port operations, and economic growth, stressing that any enforcement exercise should be implemented in a manner that does not unnecessarily disrupt legitimate business activities.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, assured APFFLON of the Command’s commitment to professionalism, fairness, and continuous engagement with stakeholders. He reaffirmed the Police Command’s readiness to work with industry operators while ensuring compliance with extant laws and directives from the Inspector-General of Police.
