Arsenal Becomes Champions of England, Wins First Premier League After 22-Years Drought
Arsenal have won their first Premier League title in 22 years after Manchester City’s draw against Bournemouth.
The result means that Mikel ArtetaMikel Arteta‘s side are now an unassailable four points clear at the top of the table with one game remaining.
Eli Junior Kroupi’s brilliant, curling finish put the hosts ahead in the first half before Erling Haaland’s stoppage-time goal gave the visitors late hope.
Over in a pub near the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal fans soak in that long-awaited Premier League title.
Mikel Arteta’s side became champions after another strong campaign in which they led the table for long periods and ultimately held off late pressure from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The Gunners, who finished runners-up in three consecutive seasons, secured the title ahead of their final fixtures, marking their first league triumph since the 2003/04 “Invincibles” season under Arsène Wenger.
Arsenal’s title challenge appeared to waver in April following a 2-1 defeat to City at the Etihad Stadium, but they recovered strongly to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
The victory also ends a six-year trophy drought for the North London club and represents a second major honour for Arteta since taking charge at the Emirates Stadium.
Attention now shifts to their remaining fixtures, including a final league match against Crystal Palace on Sunday, where the Premier League trophy will be officially presented at Selhurst Park.
Arsenal could still end the season with further silverware as they prepare to face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest on May 30.
