NAGAFF President, Tochukwu Ezisi Wins Freight Forwarder of the Year, as Bivbere, Afolabi, Others Shine at MIMA Awards 2026

High Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, National President of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), was named Freight Forwarder of the Year at the Maritime Industry Merit Awards (MIMA 2026), held at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos on Monday.
The award recognised Ezisi’s leadership in trade facilitation and his commitment to raising professional standards in Nigeria’s freight forwarding industry.
A strong advocate for the Federal Government’s National Single Window (NSW) project, Ezisi has consistently championed the use of technology and scanning equipment at Nigerian ports to reduce cargo clearance time and costs. He also serves on the governing board of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).
Ezisi was accompanied to the event by the NAGAFF High Command, led by the association’s founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam. The night was one of elegance and pageantry, and the NAGAFF delegation added considerable colour to the ceremony.
Other notable recipients at the prestigious event included Dr. Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi, who was honoured as Maritime Man of the Year 2025. His award was received on his behalf by Captain Ibrahim Olugbade, a senior executive at Sifax Group.
The National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) also received an award as Best Customs Broker of the Year 2025, which was presented to him by the ANLCA Board of Trustees Chairman, Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, and collected by the association’s Treasurer, Hajia Bola Muse.
Comptroller Frank Onyeka, Area Controller of the Tin Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, was honoured as Most Outstanding Customs Area Controller in Revenue and Anti-Smuggling.
The award was received on his behalf by his Public Relations Officer, Oscar Ivara.
Mr. Godfrey Bivbere, Editor of Harbours and Ports News and immediate past President of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), clinched the Maritime Reporter of the Year Award with a N1million price.
The MIMA Awards is an annual event organised by Maritime Media Limited, headed by veteran maritime journalist Elder Asu Beks.
