NIWA Chairman Seeks Involvement of Private Sector in Development of Water Transportation

The newly appointed board Chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Hon. Musa Sarkin-Adar has advocated for the involvement of more private players in the development of the nation’s water transportation business.
Sarkin-Adar made the call when he paid a visit to the Managing Director of NIWA, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji at the liason of the Authority in Abuja.
He emphasized on the need for the involvement of the private sector in the development of water transportation, as government cannot do it alone.
He urged the Authority to do more in connecting other states in the water transportation.
The chairman encouraged NIWA to phase out wooden boats in order to minimize boats accidents on waterways, and further urged the MD and his team to do their best in order to leave a lasting legacy so that history will remember them.
The Managing Director of NIWA, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji on his part commended the efforts of his management team in the development of the Inland Waterways Transportation sub-sector.
According to him, he is blessed with an experienced and dedicated team which he cannot take the glory alone.
The visit was attended by all the Management staff of the Authority.
