Zangalo, LASTCOC Chair, Praises Dr. Charles Okaga’s Impact At NPA, Celebrates his New Appointment As Minister’s Adviser

The Lagos State Chairman of Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMATO) Alhaji Lukman Shittu also known as Zangalo, has congratulated Dr Charles Okaga, General Manager, Operations at Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), who have now been seconded to the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy as a Technical Adviser to the Minister, Adegboyega Oyetola

Zangalo who also doubles as the Chairman of the lagos state truck and cargo Committee (LASTCOC) said in a statement on 1st February 2025, that the truckers are grateful for the impact of Dr Okaga at the Apapa port

“We want to extend our warmest congratulations to Dr Charles Okaga, he is an achiever, and we really felt his impact at the Nigerian ports, especially during his time at the Apapa port complex as General Manager

“We want to wish him well and pray that he would continue to succeed in the new assignment just given to him at the Ministry” he said

Okaga, who is the immediate-past Port Manager of the nation’s premier and busiest seaport, Lagos Port Complex is credited for playing a lead role in freeing Lagos ports access roads after over a decade of chaotic traffic gridlock that affected the port industry adversely.

Okaga also enshrined an unprecedented level of stakeholders’ engagement with port operators, service providers and users in the port community that led to the progress recorded.

In recognition of his exemplary performance in traffic management and the promotion of ease of doing business he received several unsolicited awards from a cross-country of industry and external port stateless, including the media, terminal operators, antigraft agencies, labour unions and a host of others.

During his 7-year stint as Principal Manager, Operations at the Authority, he distinguished himself through exemplary monitoring and regulatory services on matters of Port Concession and Joint Venture partnership, labour matters and mediation and has maintained an upward trajectory.

Dr Charles Okaga has also contributed significantly to the growth of export cargo shipment arising from several policy reviews, his appointment is hailed by Industry watchers as putting a square peg in a square hole.
