ITF Elects MWUN’s Comrade Funmi Fasan As Chairperson, Women Wing

The Nigerian women wing of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) has elected Comrade Funmi Fasan, the Vice President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) as the Chairperson of its women wing.

The new set of executives are to lead the organisation for the next four years.
The election was held during the 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the wing, which took place recently.

Other elected officials are; Omolabake Adelakun elected as the vice chairperson for road transport and Safiya Araya as the vice chairperson for air transport. Other key positions were filled by Amos Chidiebele as secretary, Rukayat Shuaibu as assistant secretary, and Ayegba Sarah as treasurer.

Additional elected officials include Ogochukwu Ibegbunam as financial secretary, Modupe Odunmuyiwa as auditor, and Onyeka Anthonia as welfare officer. Trustees for the wing are Okezie ljeoma and Uguru Fidelia Uwaoma. The public relations officer role will be shared by Oloyede Olaide and Popoola Temitope, while Igbokwe Tochi will serve as ex-officio.

The newly elected executives are tasked with representing and advocating for women in Nigeria’s transport sector, working under the ITF’s global framework to advance gender equality and improve conditions for women transport workers.
