JUST IN: Customs Issues Update on Job Recruitment, Says 573,519 Applications Flooded its Portal

The Nigeria Customs Service has said that it received 573,519 applications in the just concluded 2024/2025 recruitment exercise carried out online via ita recruitment portal.
DAILY TREND recalls that recently, the Minister of Finance, Mr Olawale Edun had said that the recruitment of 3,927 officers have been approved for the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
This means that out of the 573,519 applications, the service is looking forward to employ not less than 3,927 qualified applicants.
National Public Relations Officer of Customs, Abdullahi Maiwada who gave the breakdown of the applications in a chat, said applications were received across board, including candidates with University degrees, Higher National Diploma and even secondary school certificates.
Speaking, he said “I want to breakdown the number of people that applied, we have two categories of officers, we have the support staff that are professionals, and we have the general duty.
“For the general duty, we have three categories of ranks. For the general duty under the supretendent cadre, we have 249, 218 candidates that applied.
“Under the supretendent cadre support staff cadre, we have 27, 722 with HNDs and University degrees.
For the inspector cadres, those expected to apply with their National Certificate for Education, NCE or National Diploma, we have 115, 634 applying for the general duty, and for support staff, we have 12, 952.
“As for the customs assistants, these are those who are supposed to come in with secondary school certificates, there are two categories, those who have basic five credit results with Maths and English, and those without Maths and English. For the general duty we have 153, 593 while the support staff we have 14, 400”

I tried applying from the first day I saw the advert but the LGA was not loading. I went to different cyber cafés but was told the site is down. We can do better in the country though.

The reason for the massive turn up is because of the rate of unemployment is very high, God bless the minister for this opportunity, how i wishes this will continue every year it will be good for the youth, may almighty Allah count us among the successful one Amin.
This is all lies the there’s was network glitch , and a lot of employees failed to apply and I believe the officer in charge of IT knowingly did this . Just know that the life is temporary if you keep doing this you will definitely face your death one day .

Show proof of it because the site was not working. LGA can’t upload, Certificate can’t upload. I tried so many browsers and different cafe. Used different people’s phone because I want the job. I’m looking for job but the site was not working. I need a job.
Had same issue but then because I was so determined I woke up 12midnight to try it for two days and got it done the second midnight
The site was flooded, so the usual timing wouldn’t have been feasible, which is why I opted for a midnight trial, which turned out successful.
I can already see myself as a custom officer!

You opened a recruitment portal. That can not be fully accessed by vast majority of Nigerians.
From the day 1 to the very last day.
Abi nh juju those people use apply for the portal. Because, the site was not responding either from the LGA aspect or the Degree aspect. And yet you are online blarbing Abt millions of people that applied….
Same happened to me but I waited till midnight and tried it again and it went successfully. I guess there was much traffic on the site.

Well on my own end I was able to apply but I was unable to print applicant slip, but after the organization later update I went to print but my application number was changed from previous one. I hopeful I get shortlisted and I wish everyone applicant well.

I’ve applied for recruitment into NCS on several occasions but not successful, I pray this time I will be successful. I leave everything in the Lord’s hand.

Please let’s be fair in judgement here. My friend runs a Cyber Cafe and he successfully registered myself and over 100 other candidates in my presence. Yes internet glitches characterized the entire process but with persistence and perseverance everything worked out. Good luck to those of us who successfully submitted our applications, and better luck next time to those whose applications didn’t go through.
