ANLCA Board Directs Suspension of Chapter Election Timetable to Address Logistics Concerns

The Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has announced a temporary suspension of the chapter election timetable to resolve logistical issues.

This decision follows discussions at a recent Western Zone meeting and is part of the board’s commitment to ensuring a fair and efficient election process.

In an official communication addressed to the National President, the board emphasized that while the suspension affects some elements of the election schedule, the sale of forms will continue.

This allows prospective candidates additional time to prepare for their campaigns, ensuring that they engage with members effectively ahead of the election.

The BOT highlighted that this move aligns with ANLCA’s Supreme Constitution, which grants the board authority over the nomination and appointment of ASECO (Association Electoral Committee) members.

The BOT assured members that adjustments made within ASECO were necessary and conducted with transparency, aiming to strengthen the integrity of the election process.

Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, BOT Chairman, emphasized the importance of maintaining ethical standards within the association, stating that ANLCA’s leadership is determined to promote fair practices and positive values.

He added that the board is open to constructive suggestions from members that could further enhance the professionalism and ethics of the customs agency profession.

The BOT reminded members to approach the upcoming elections with fairness and urged them to report any irregularities to the NECOM (National Executive Committee) and BOT for prompt action. “As we approach the end of 2024, your safety, security, and mental well-being remain our priority,” the statement read.
