In a recent announcement, Tin Can Island Container Terminal (TICT) has informed customers of the suspension of all payment methods directed to its GTBank account, effective from Wednesday, November 6, 2024. The affected payment channels include GTBank’s USSD, internet banking, and in-branch payments.

For the past two weeks, GTbank has been having gliches which has left customers and businesses frustrated.

According to a circular issued by Opeyemi Akintola, Customer Service Department, this suspension is due to significant discrepancies reported in payments made to GTBank, which have complicated TICT’s ability to confirm and issue receipts.

The company has therefore advised all customers to make payments using bank drafts, which are to be paid only across the counter at TICT’s Head Office payment desk.

This change, the company states, will streamline the confirmation process and ensure immediate receipt issuance for all transactions.

To accommodate the shift, TICT has extended its payment desk hours, which will now operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. All bank drafts from any bank will be accepted at this desk.

The company assured customers that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates on GTBank’s progress toward resolving these issues and restoring standard payment services for TICT.

TICT’s management expressed appreciation for customers’ patience and cooperation, emphasizing the need for this adjustment to maintain accurate payment records and efficient receipt issuance.
