There are indications that the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) is not getting enough representation in the North, even there is a lot of clearing and forwarding operations going on in the region.

Members of the Association have complained that the man who is currently standing as Zonal Coordinator for the North, is not giving them adequate representation, even as they alleged the man is not resident in the North, neither does he operate from the North.

Presently, its like the job of clearing is limited to Lagos and Port Harcourt.

To this end, a veteran in ANLCA Politics, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Utai threw his hat in the ring, saying that he must come onboard so that the voice of the operators in the North can now be heard in the industry.

Utai operates from Kano, the biggest state that has commercial activities in the North
Utai has a bonded terminal in Kano. All the chapter leaders and executives in Kano today all passed through him, and he actually brought them all to Lagos during the NECOM elections in 2023.
In an abridged version of his profile which he sent to our correspondent, Utai has an experience in the logistics business spanning over a period of 25years.

“I have been a member of ANLCA for over 23-years and playing the role of an elder in the local chapter for the past 18-years.

“I was the one that revived the Kano chapter from it’s comatose position to its present position with active elected executive members

“In fact, one core reason behind my interest to contest for the BOT of ANLCA is to make the Zone more actively involved in national body.

“The profession is growing in North rapidly, we have an Inland Dry Port in Kano with over six different bonded terminals, two international airports, with two international border posts

“I am also involved in manufacturing, logistics and commodity trading” Utai stated
