LASTCOC: Truck Operators Congratulate New NPA MD, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, Promises Synergy

The Lagos State Truck and Cargo Operators Committee ( LASTCOC) has congratulated Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the new Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) even as it promised to synergise with the new new NPA helmsman in making Nigerian ports a hub in West and Central Africa.
Chairman of LASTCOC, Alhaji Lukman Shittu Zangalo in a press statement on Sunday expressed confidence in the person of Dr Dantsoho, describing him as a round peg in a round hole, being a professional mariner who have served in different capacities at the agency.
According to the LASTCOC boss, Dr Dantsoho’s appointment is an affirmation of the confidence reposed in his ability by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reposition the NPA for effective port administration in Nigeria.
Zangalo added that Dr Dantsoho’s impacts will not only drive maritime trade in Nigeria but will also improve on the legacies of his predecessor, Mohammed Bello-Koko in order to ensure sanity in the port haulage business.
“The Lagos State Truck and Cargo Operators Committee wishes to welcome the new Managing Director of NPA, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, and we are wishing him all the best.
” We promise to extend our full support and cooperation to him in ensuring that the ease of doing business at Nigerian Ports in achieved and also ensure the port corridor remain sanitized” he said.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had on Friday 12th of July, 2024 announced the appointment of Dr Abubakar Dantsoho as new NPA Managing Director.
Dr Dantsoho replaces Mohammed Bello-Koko who was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2021 as acting MD and his appointment was confirmed in February 2022.
The tenure of NPA MD is five years.
Dr Dantosho holds a Doctorate degree in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, and a Master’s degree in International Transport from Cardiff University of Wales, United Kingdom.
Before his appointment, he had served in various roles in the Nigerian Ports Authority as Assistant General Manager; Technical Assistant to the Managing Director; Port Manager, Onne Port; and Principal Manager, Tariff & Billing.
