Panel of Inquiry Begins Investigation Into Series of Petitions Against CRFFN

A Panel of Inquiry which has been set up by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Transportation, has commenced investigations into series of Petitions and complaints that have been lodged against the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN)
CRFFN is however a government agency currently under the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
In a letter addressed to the Acting Registrar of CRFFN, dated 13th May 2024 signed by Mukhtar Iliyasu Umar, Director of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement of the Ministry who is Chairman of the Panel, the Ministry directed that the pioneer Registrar of the Council, Mike Jukwe should be summoned alongside the five accredited freight forwarding associations including; African Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON)
The letter titled “RE: CONSTITUTION OF THE PANEL OF INQUIRY TO INVESTIGATE SERIES OF PETITIONS AGAINST THE COUNCIL FOR THE REGULATION OF FREIGHT FORWARDING IN NIGERIA (CRFFN)
“Kindly refer to the Permanent. secretary’s letter Ref. No FMMBE/LA.2931/I dated 7 May, 2024 regarding the constitution and subsequent inauguration of a Panel of Inquiry to investigate series of Petitions emanating in respect of the Council.
“The Panel has commenced its assignment in line with the Terms of Reference (TOR).
Sequel to the foregoing, the Panel kindly solicit for the corporation of the Management of the Council to-enable it undertake its assignment successfully.
“The Panel is scheduled to engage with the leadership of the Council from the 15th to 17th of May, 2024 and also requests that you kindly arrange for a meeting with the foliowing officers/stakeholders:
(i) The Pioneer Registrar/CEC of the Council;
(ii) All heads of Departments/Units of the Cuuncil;
(iii) The Deputy Director Finance and Accounts;
(iv) The Leadership of the five (5) accredited Associations and AFFLON; .
“Furthermore, In the course of its assignment, the Panel may require some information/documents from the Council for examination” the letter stated
Cffr is duplicating d works of regulatory bodies like customs and npa authority. They only add more bottle necks in doing business at d port in this harsh economy. In my opinion, that institution should be scrapped to ease doing business in our ports.
