There was tension at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) on Monday as one of the candidates in the last Chairmanship elections of the chapter, Prince Bola Ashiru reportedly stormed the chapter secretariat with his supporters and sacked the seating Chairman, Adewusi Bamgbala.

Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos under Justice P.O Lifu on 5th of May 2023 on a case with
suit number; FHC/L/CS/758/2022
ruled in favour of Bola Ashiru as the authentic Chairman of the chapter.

The seating Chairman, Adewusi Bamgbala had assured that the matter has gone to Appeal Court and the matter is already being heard.

However, members of the association were thrown into confusion on Monday when Prince Ashiru, on the strength of the court judgement, reportedly stormed the secretariat with his supporters, in company of the Police Force from the Zonal Headquarters, Zone 2, Onikan.

Eye witnesses told our correspondent that while the police whisked away Adewusi Bamgbala in-between a meeting with his chapter executives, immediately afterwards, Prince Ashiru took over the office as the new Chairman.

However, his reign was shortlived as members of the chapter regrouped and staged a resistance, including the association Task Force.

Men of the Nigerian Air-force were later called upon to restore sanity at the chapter, and they reportedly whisked away Prince Ashiru at the instance of the Vice Chairman and Treasurer of the association.

When DAILY TREND contacted the Special Assistance to the ANLCA President on Media, Alhaji Ayokunle Sulaiman, he confirmed the incident.
He however said that the association would not issue any statement on the development until it has heard from the two gladiators.

“Before we issue any statement, both sides needs to be listened to, we don’t want to muddle up the situation, we have to know the true picture of what happened between Bola Ashiru and Adewusi Bamgbala” he said
