Tinubu Approves MoU with China for $700 million Road Construction At Lekki Port

President Bola Tinubu has approved the sum of $700 million for 7 road projects to boost business activities and logistic services at the Lekki Deep Sea Port.

This is part of the concerted efforts of President Tinubu to continuously support noble investor efforts such as the Lekki port and others to optimise the rich blue economy inherent in the nation’s maritime domain.

Speaking at the arrival of the largest Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) powered vessel; CMA-CGM Scandola at the Lekki Deep Seaport on Monday, Chairman of the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Abiodun Dabiri made the disclosure.

Speaking, he said “In response to our appeals for the enhancement of road networks around the port, we must place it on record and thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a Memorandum of Understanding with China Harbour, for the construction of a 7 extra road.
“That road is clearly going to be a game changer, it is going to be about $700million, it will take up from Lekki, fly over lagoons, terminate around Shagamu and then facilitate the evacuation of goods and services into the hinterlands.

“This was one of the packages that was announced by the Minister of Works recently”

Dabiri also appealed that the port should be connected to the National railway in order to complement the road networks.
