MC Oluomo Steps Down as NURTW Chairman in Lagos, Sego Takes Over
By DAPO OLAWUNI
Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, has agreed to step down as Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Oluomo announced this decision on Sunday after a meeting with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other key stakeholders at Government House, Alausa, Ikeja.
Oluomo who was dressed in a white native attire, said that he has agreed to cede power to Mustapha Adekunle (Sego), the current Treasurer of the union in the state, and that in he is going further to contest for NURTW President.
He said that the decision and changes would take effect before the end of January 2024.
Sources at the meeting said that Oluomo was prevailed upon to contest for the presidency of the union since one of the factional President of the union Tajudeen Agbede is currently bedridden.
Agbede is said to be down with stroke.
Aside Sanwo-Olu, others at the meeting were Sanwo- Olu’s Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi ,Commissioner for Transportation, Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the governor on Transportation, Commissioner of Police in Lagos and the Director of DSS in Lagos, Dapo Amao.
Others at the meeting were the current exco members of the union in the state.
The Lagos State chapter has been in crisis after some leaders of the union in the state passed a vote of no confidence on Oluomo few days after he was re-elected for a second term a month ago.
It was gathered that Oluomo decided to step down after mounting pressure from most of his powerful friends and influential figures in Lagos including Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi.
Elegushi was said to have personally told Oluomo to step down or face imminent embarrassment from his loyalists.
It was further gathered that 80% of branch chairmen in Lagos have stopped remitting money to the union’s state coffer, resulting in Oluomo’s dwindling resources.
Oluomo, whose suspension from the union was lifted four months ago, ran into trouble after he accepted to be the acting chairman of the union in South West.
The suspension order was lifted by Agbede, in his inaugural address in Abuja in August.
Such efforts by mc oluomo depicts an epitome of a true leader 07087737746
Leadership should be rotational when God entrust power on you be magnimus to steep down rather than to be disgrace out of office most especially when your leadership is no longer enjoying the desired popularity .
Abuja here MC come!
MC has gone national bcos Lagos is too small for him since his Principal has become the CEO of 9ja for the next 8years
He has to go to Abuja to save face. Simple!
The crisis would have been unimaginable & uncontrolable if he has decline stepping down.
The governor & Obas are commended for being proactive.
One love
How come a strongman like Agbede is now bedridden. What a Shame to power tussle. People who believe so much is Juju, their end will never look good.
When God is on the Throne, a lot will continue to happen to the evildoers.
Let’s keep watching, their end individually with all their juju will soon come to an end, and God will triumph
This is a nice move. Peace at last
Sego’s body language is something to worry about, he seems getting away with the act of betrayal & back bitting on MC Oluomo having got the backing of some stakeholders in the union against his long time friend & mentor.
Best decision ever made by MC Oluomo, LLNP to you…
most of his loyalist has back out of him, and he stands to be humilated by lagos stakesholders, why looking up to replace the vegetable they have made the former federal representative that has being held down with stroke, with no other option and to allow peace to reign in lagos, he has to stepdown to go for the bigger one which they have promised him, we know as e dey go, na paddy paddy government, na dem dem.
What business have Sanwo Olu, Obas, with Agberos? Oluomo have been promised NURTW presidency by the person who have been using him at state level, hence this stepping down drama. God save Nigeria from the hands of bad people.
MAN PROPOSES,GOD DISPOSES, WE NEVER CAN TELL WHAT WOULD TRANSPIRE IN THE NEXT 8 YEARS!
Government brokering peace for thugs
Kudos to our ever active Lagos state Governor and the Obas…..
May the tenure of Alhaji Mustapha Sego favour us all and May the peace of God take charge in Lagos State and Nigeria at large
