Denmark, ICMPD Train Nigerian Immigration Officers on Career Progression

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in collaboration with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) had trained Immigration officers on gender policy.

The Programme officer, ICMPD, Mr Mathias Esene, said this in a statement made available in Lagos on Friday.

Esene said that the training was an effort in ensuring that the career progression and training framework as well as gender policy of the Nigeria Immigration service (NIS) aligns with its organisation needs.

He said that a day prevarication meeting and training was held in Port Harcourt to advanced immigration service operations.

Esene said that the modernising Nigeria Immigration service (MoNIS) project is an interventionist project conceived to improve on the capacity of Nigeria Immigration service to deliver on its mandate.

He said that the training had also focused on career progression and training framework,aimed at gender policy and personnel management system.

It is organised by the ministry of foreign affairs of Denmark in collaboration with the international centre for migration policy development.

“Key issues at the work shop include drafting of career progression and training framework, gender policy and action plan for implementation of the gender policy.

“There were goodwill messages from key stakeholders at the event.

“Participants at the event are drawn from Nigeria Immigration service, Ministry of interior, foreign affairs, women affairs, budget and national planning as well as experts from the international centre for migration policy development and MoNIS project team,” Esene said.
