After Creating Ministry of Maritime, Master Mariners Task Tinubu on Appointment of SSA Maritime

Even as it has expressed excitement over President Bola Tinubu’s creation of Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Nigerian Association of Master Mariners (NAMM) has called on the President to appoint a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Maritime to complement the Minister.
President of the Master Mariners, Capt Tajudeen Alao on Sunday said that with the appointment of Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, the sector which he described as the Sleeping Economic Volcano has been triggered to wake up and soar like the Eagle.
“I say congratulations to all stakeholders in the Maritime Industry and a big thank you to our visionary leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu
“The creation of Ministry of Marine Transportation and Blue Economy is a dream come true and answer to a long yearning cry of Industry stakeholders .
“At last, the 2nd greatest contributor to Nigerian GDP has been given the desired attention.
“It has been our position and request to have this Ministry created, as well as the position of Snr Special Assistant , Maritime to Mr President .
“We have so many requests line up to propel the Industry, such as; the headship of Agencies to be professionalise, appointing round pegs in round holes, since their functions are guarded by International Conventions.
“We hope our Honourable Minister shall have listening ears and surround his office with knowledgeable practitioners; use his deep knowledge of ICT to harness all potentials within the Blue Economy, sustainably.
“We at the Nigerian Association of Master Mariners, pledge our unflinching support to the leadership of this new Ministry of Marine Transportation and Blue Economy and the ruling Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“On behalf of entire members of Nigerian Association of Mariners, I say fairwind and smooth sailing to this Administration” Capt Alao stated.
