AMATO Felicitates Wale Adeniyi on Emergence as Customs CG

The Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMATO) has congratulated the new Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Wale Adeniyi, even as it’s described his promotion as well deserved.
President Bola Tinubu on June 19 appointed Wale Adeniyi as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs. He took over from Col Hameed Ali who was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on August 27, 2015.
In a congratulatory message signed by President of AMATO, Chief Remi Ogungbemi, the association expressed optimism that the customs service under CGC Adeniyi as a seasoned officer, would address the myriads of problems confronting the Nigerian port community.
Chief Ogungbemi in the congratulatory message said “The Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMATO) felicitates with new acting Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs on the occasion of his well deserved promotion the Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

DAILY TREND reports that under the previous administration of Col Hameed Ali, truck owners have continued to suffer impoundment of their trucks by the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) as a means of conveyance of seized goods.
AMATO has over the years championed a course to indemnify truck drivers and owners from the excesses of importers, and stop the impoundment of trucks for offences which they know nothing about.
