Gridlock: TTP Sets to Deploy ‘Eto’ Call-up System At $1.5 billion Lekki Port

Coming on the heels of reports that trucks has besieged the newly commissioned Lekki Deep Seaport in their effort to lift cargoes, technology-driven transportation solution provider; Truck Transit Park Limited (TTP) has said that it is set to deploy the electronic call-up system popularly known as ‘Eto’ to the Lekki Deep Seaport.

The management of TTP Limited is confident that when the electronic call-up system is implemented in the Lekki-Epe axis, the concerns over traffic gridlock that residents and businesses around the Lekki axis are currently expressing would not be an issue.

The $1.5 billion Lekki Port received the first commercial vessel on Thursday, April 6, 2023. A ship named GSL Alice berthed with Containers for a company in the Lagos Free Zone and empty containers.

In order to handle the envisaged truck traffic at the port, DAILY TREND reports that already, there is an ongoing construction of a truck park by shareholders of Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited.
The truck park would have an initial 153 truck parking slots, a security booth, offices, and a waiting area.

Mr Jama Onwubuariri, Co-founder and Managing Director of Trucks Transit Parks Ltd has however said that the successes recorded at Apapa port with the Eto call-up system would now be replicated at Lekki Port.

According to him, about 1.3million port bound and non-port trucks have so far been processed via the Eto call-up system.

“The electronic call-up system has successfully managed truck traffic in the Apapa and TinCan ports, and we are ready to deploy it at the Lekki Epe port.

“Our technology, Eto has proven to be effective in easing traffic and promoting efficiency in the movement of cargo in and out of the ports. We are confident that similar success can be replicated in the Lekki Epe axis should the call-up system be introduced.

“Given that our agreement covers all ports in Lagos State, we’re deeply engaging with the NPA, LASG, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure adequate planning and arrangements.
Our team is set to deploy the technology immediately as soon as NPA notifies us of its readiness.

“We’re confident that when the electronic call-up system is implemented in the Lekki-Epe axis, the concerns over traffic that residents and businesses are currently expressing will be eradicated to the barest minimum” Jama said
