PHOTO TREND: NIMASA Takes Delivery of Brand-New Mass Transit Boats

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has taken delivery of it’s mass transit boats while it gets set to venture into water transportation business.
Director General of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh stated this on Tuesday saying that the agency is practicing what it preaches.
DAILY TREND reported on Monday that the Director General of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh disclosed the agency’s plan to go into transportation at the University of Lagos Institute of Maritime Studies’ maiden Annual Lecture held in Lagos last week.
The lecture has the theme: ”From Crude to Blue – Nigeria’s Blue Economy: The Imperative of Maritime Domain Awareness and Good Governance”.
According to Dr Jamoh, the four newly purchased ferry boats would be arriving Nigeria before the end of April 2023 and they would be commissioned by the Minister of Transportation, Muazu Jaji Sambo.
However on Tuesday, Jamoh announced on his official Twitter handle that the boats have now arrived.
“Our deliberate policy of NIMASA staff commuting to work by water transport will soon be in effect. The Agency’s presence and brand will become ever-dominant in our waters. Players, operators and stakeholders will be able to engage with us more directly and with real-time experience and value.
“Glad to announce we have taken delivery of our brand-new mass-transit boats and operations vessels to enable us to fulfil our dual mandates of promoting the Blue Economy and regulating the maritime domain” he said
