The Apapa Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service last week honored about 27 Firms including ENL Consortium, APMT Terminals, Flour Mills, Dangote Port Operations with letters of appreciation for supporting the command financially in the remodelling of critical infrastructures at the command and giving it a general facelift.
Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Compt Yusuf Malanta appreciated the Firms, describing them as partners in progress. He said that the stakeholders support did not come in form of physical cash, but they dealt directly with the contractor of the project in terms of supplying chairs, building tiles among others
Compt Malanta also announced that the project has been dedicated to all the stakeholders in Apapa.
He however warned that, the fact that the stakeholders contributed towards the project does not allow them to circumvent customs procedure in cargo clearance.
“The fact that you contributed towards the realization of this project does not mean that we would allow you toil with government revenue, any attempt to deviate from compliance, we would deal with you seriously because you tried to take advantage of us” Malanta warned
Speaking further on the project, he said “There was no communication with us directly from the Stakeholders, most of these things were provided directly to the contractor. Therefore I dedicate this project to all the stakeholders.
Compt Malanta stated that the new CGC auditorium which has been furnished to taste, is not only for customs to use, it is meant to be used by all the stakeholders in Apapa.
