ANLCA Crisis: PTML Chairman, Oluwole Obe Congratulates Interim President, Pius Ujubonu
…Urges Ex-NECOM, Chapters to Prepare for Fresh Election
The Chairman of Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Elder Oluwole Obe has congratulated Mr Pius Ujubonu as the new Acting National President of the association.
The Board of Trustees (BOT) of the association headed by Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha had last week taken over the National Secretariat of the association in accordance to Section 22 (2c) of the constitution and appointed acting executives to administer the association, following the expiration of the Hon Tony Iju Nwabunike four years tenure in April 2022.
Elder Oluwole Obe also urged the former National Executive Committee (NECOM) headed by Tony Iju Nwabunike and all other chapters whose tenure has elapsed to get ready for a fresh election soon.
“Anybody that is interested in becoming executives in ANLCA should prepare for election and be ready to contest, there is no parallel government in ANLCA as of today, all excos that are expired, like the chapters and the NECOM should go and prepare for fresh elections
“The interim executives should roll out the plans for the next election, everybody should be ready, nobody should start parading themselves to be a parallel government.
“As at today, the interim president is Chief Pius Ujubonu. Any other person claiming to represent ANLCA are doing so illegally” he said
Elder Oluwole Obe congratulated Pius Ujubonu for emerging as interim President of ANLCA, urging him to bring his rich experience to bare in order to return ANLCA to its winning ways.
Elder Obe charged Ujubonu to be a bridge builder in bringing back peace to the crisis ridden customs brokers association.
He also noted that this is not the first time that BOT of the association is taking over the association in time of crisis.
He said “During the time of Henry Njoku who is the man behind all this crisis, he took over the Secretariat as BOT Chairman. Also during the time of Chief Idonigie, he appointed people into office as BOT Chairman.
“I have not seen anywhere in the world where there is crisis and constitution is being amended, the 2020 constitution amendments is null and void, we are reverting back to our constitution of 2008, everybody should go and prepare for elections” he said
Heading the interim NECOM in acting capacity is Mr Pius Ujubonu as President, Jamiu Adeyinka as acting Vice President; Joe Sanni, acting National Secretary; Francis Ituah as acting National Publicity Secretary; Alhaji Usman as Treasurer and Waheed Gbadamosi as the acting Financial Secretary.
At the zonal level, Sir John Oforbike remains the leader of ANLCA in the Western Zone, the Northern Zone has Sanusi Wakili, Obi Chima is leader in the Eastern Zone.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new executives last week, the BOT Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha said “In line with section 13C of the Supreme constitution of ANLCA, we pronounce that there would be an interim government that would run the association.
The Boat is empowered to run the association for six months, but we are transferring that power to the interim executives for a period of either 3-months or 6-months”
The BOT Chairman charged the Pius Ujubonu led executives to be law abiding, adding that they must not take laws into their hands and always defend the interest of ANLCA members.
