The leadership of the foremost customs brokerage association in Nigeria; Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has directed it’s members to suspend further capturing of cargoes and payment of duties due to network malfunctioning and serial failures of Nigeria Customs Service server.
Acting President of ANLCA, Dr Kayode Farinto in a notice to his members on Friday noted that the server failures was causing astronomical increase in duty payments on imported vehicles.
“We noticed this morning that there is systems error on Customs portal to the extent that when you make declarations, it was giving outrageous and astronomical duty payable.
“I have gotten across to Abuja, Customs Headquarters and they said they have challenges with their system, hence I want to advice that if you have not made your declarations on your job, kindly wait till Monday”
Meanwhile for those that have already made assessment of their cargoes, the ANLCA top man said assurance have been given by customs that all area Commands will be given access to cancel such declarations.
“Please let us kindly bear with them till it is sorted out on or before Monday .I wish everyone a nice weekend” Farinto said
