Imported Vehicle Crushes Custom Agent’s Legs At Five Star Terminal, Tin Can Port

Apparently due to human error inside the Five Star Logistics Terminal at Tin Can Island Ports, a customs clearing agent named Gbenga Jama’s legs were crushed on Tuesday by an imported vehicle inside the terminal.

Sources who spoke with DAILY TREND alleged that the accident occured while the victim, a member of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) was going about the delivery of his consignment.

Multiple sources inside the terminal claimed that the imported vehicle was being pushed manually because the terminal operator does not have enough drivers and workers due to congestion.

The vehicle however lost control and crushed the clearing agents legs.

One of the clearing agents alleged that “This case should be on Five Star Terminal because of their lack of workers. There were no Five Star drivers on ground on that day of the accident. This matter should be taken up with the terminal operators.
“There is no safety at Five Star Terminal, their only focus is on the money they want to make”

Also speaking on the incident, ANLCA Youth Leader at Tin Can Island Port, Hon Remilekun Sikiru said that Five Star Terminal management operational service and system caused the accident which could have been avoided.

“Had it been that the terminal have enough manpower (drivers) as they always claim to have , such wouldn’t have happened in the first place” he said

Hon Remilekun narrated that “The victim was in the terminal to get his job done as normal when the gory and unfortunate incident happened

“He was actually not driving, and even the vehicle that hit him, there was no driver inside it, it was actually pushed by another vehicle which now damaged his leg, just because of the congestion in the terminal.

“Though the chairman immediately swung into action yesterday to inform the management which they promised to look into it and I strongly believe they will act fast to take up responsibility on the victim” he said

When he was contacted by DAILY TREND to find out what the Chapter was taking on the affected member, Chairman of ANLCA at Tin Can Chapter, Alhaji Muhammed Mojeed initially declined comments on the incident.

However after much prodding by our correspondent, he said “I have not met with the terminal manager neither have we taken any action on the matter.
He (the victim) had an accident inside the terminal, he was hit by people that were pushing the imported vehicles.

“It is not the fault of Five Star Logistics Terminal, the terminal operator have its own drivers that are helping to drive-off vehicles in the terminal.
However, it is human error of those pushing the vehicles” Alhaji Mojeed stated

The association is reportedly seeking financial support for the victim, as he has since been transferred to the hospital for treatment.
