Amidst VIN Protest, Customs Reopens Clarion Bonded Terminal

After several months of lockdown and inactivity, the Nigeria Customs Service have now reopened the vehicle terminal; Clarion Bonded Terminal which was shutdown last year over alleged infractions in their transactions with the service.
Public Relations Officer of Customs, Tin Can Island Command, Mr Uche Ejesieme confirmed exclusively to DAILY TREND NEWS that the terminal has since been opened and it would commence operations immediately the freight forwarders protest at the port is called off.
Our correspondent gathered that already, 500units of vehicles onboard a vessel; RCC Europe has already be stemmed for transfer to the terminal to cushion the effect of build-up congestion inside the Five Star Logistics Terminal.
Since the terminal was shutdown, the Five Star Logistics Terminal have been stemming cargoes to another bonded terminal; Classic Bonded Terminal.
Mr Ejesieme stated that Clarion Terminal usually gets their supplies from the Five Star Logistics Terminal
Our correspondent learnt that the terminal was shutdown when the Tariff and Trade department of customs examined the terminal operations and discovered alleged irregularities.
The customs also suspended about 107 practicing licenses belonging to clearing agents for allegedly trying to deprive the government of needed revenue through the terminal.
