Barely 1-month: Blue Economy Group Receives Recognition Award from Navy

Barely one month after they were inaugurated, the Blue Economy Resources Coordinating Group has received an award of recognition from the Nigerian Navy.
The award was bestowed on the group by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral AZ Gambo at the ongoing Maritime Conference in Kano State.
The Chairman of the Deep Blue Economy Group, Hajia Lami Tumaka, former NIMASA Director announced that the one month old group was recognized for its vision.
The group is working with the Board of Directors as advisors and partners to among others, bring the Blue Economy Advocacy to the front burner of government, the Organized Private Sector and critical stakeholders.
Recall that the Immediate past Director General of the NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside in July inaugurated the Blue Economy Group, while stating that the essence of setting up the group is to help unlock the benefits inherent in the deep blue economy.
The former NIMASA boss acknowledged that government alone cannot achieve the vision of a vibrant blue economy, adding that sustainable development in collaboration with the private sector is the only way to achieve this.
He stressed that the responsibility of optimizing the benefits of the Blue Economy is a shared between the government, private sector, civil society, communities, professionals and other actors.
He also stated that, robust partnership by all actors has proven to be the master key to unlocking the line benefits of sustainable development of the Blue Economy.
Dakuku also informed that some government agencies, multi- lateral and financial institutions have already expressed willingness to partner with the group to advance the beneficial impact of Blue Economy.
Members of the group include: Hajia Lami Tumaka, serving as the Chairperson, Mr. Ojiji Oriri Onya as Executive Director, Mr Suleiman Adama Executive Director, Alhaji Dikko Bala, HRM Muhammed Munir Jaffa, Temisan Omatseye, Sen Grace Folashade Bent, Mrs, Jean Chaizor Anishere, Commodore Daniel Atakpa, Chief Micheal Onuoha.
