Customs Discover Arm, Ammunition Inside Imported Vehicle At Tin Can Port

The Tin Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted an imported vehicle; a 2003 Toyota Camry bearing a pistol with its magazine while the vehicle was getting released out of the Car Park C’ of the Tin Can Port.
Car park ‘C’ is owned by Five Star Logistics Terminal.
DAILY TREND NEWS gathered exclusively on Sunday morning that, but for the doggedness of the OC gate iin charge of Car park C, Assistant Comptroller Usman, the vehicle would have been released.
The discovery was made on Saturday 28th of August 2021 during a process of routine examination.
Recall that the Car Park ‘C’ has a reputation of being the most volatile terminal at the Tin Can Island Port.
Eye witnesses at the scene confirmed to our correspondent that the driver of the vehicle and the clearing agent arranging for its delivery and exit from the terminal were apprehended by customs.
The arrested suspects were subsequently handed over to the Enforcement Team of the Tin Can Customs Command.
In response to enquiries from DAILY TREND NEWS, the image maker of Tin Can Customs Command, Mr Uche Ejesieme confirmed the interception.
He said that in line with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the command, the Department of State Service (DSS) were called in alongside other security agencies and that the exhibit has been taken to customs enforcement unit for further investigation.
“In line with our SOP as it affects inter agency collaboration, the DSS was invited alongside other security agencies before the exhibit was taken to the customs enforcement unit and handed over to the DC Enforcement from whence the Area Controller will formally notify headquarters for further directives”
