ANLCA Crisis: “Stolen” Operational Bus At Tin Can Chapter has been Recovered

The operational bus of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) at Tin Can Port chapter which was allegedly stolen by another faction have now been returned to the chapter by the Nigerian Police.
Chairman of the chapter, Alhaji Muhammed Mojeed confirmed this to DAILY TREND NEWS in Lagos last week.
Recall that on May 30th 2021, gun men reportedly invaded the secretariat of the association and stole its operational bus, a Toyota Grace Bus which was donated to the association under the immediate past Chairman of the chapter, Prince Segun Oduntan.
The second operational bus, a Sienna bus, could not be towed because it was on parking brake.
Subsequently, the stolen bus was discovered at the ANLCA National Secretariat and it was alleged that the whole invasion and stolen bus was orchestrated by a factional Chairman of Tin Can Chapter, in conjunction with the National Secretariat.
Speaking with our correspondent, Alhaji Mojeed said that based on these discoveries, the Police had sealed-off the ANLCA National Secretariat and later reopened it.
“The police took the bus to Zone 2, from there, they have now released it back to us, they were aware of the situation because we all wrote our statements as regards the incident and how the vehicle got to National Secretariat”
“From police findings, they knew the vehicle belong to Tin Can Chapter, based on this, they asked us to come and take our vehicle back. They believed that ANLCA is still the same one house”
“The National Secretariat was sealed because of that vehicle, how did the vehicle get there?
It is still an ongoing matter, the case have not been vacated” Mojeed stated.
On server failure at Tin Can Island Port, the ANLCA Chairman lamented that server failures by the Nigeria Customs Service has led to huge demurrages for the importer and agents.
Unfortunately, he said terminal operators are not ready to compromise their demurrage.
“We have been to the Area Controller several times, if the Web Fontaine cannot do this job again, they should get someone else to do it.
“The server failure is a serious issue for the agent and the importer.
Most of the brunt is bear by the agent, after he has charged the importer for the job, the importer does not want to listen to any complaints about network or server failures, it is the agent that sometimes even input his money to pay the demurrage” he said
