NPA Acting MD, Bello Koko Inspects Tin Can Island Ports, Sunrise Bus-stop Corridor

Apparently inundated by the cry of stakeholders about the gridlock along the Sunrise Bus Stop of the Tin Can Island Port corridor, the Acting Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Muhammed Bello Koko on Thursday led top management team of NPA to pay an inspection visit to the bad portion of the road with a view to ensure early completion of the road project.
Recall that the NPA boss at a recent visit to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had raised concerns about the poor access roads, especially around Sunrise Bus-stop leading to the Tin Can Port and delays in the ongoing road construction.
“The situation now is that trucks going to Tin Can are now following the Apapa Port road, so no matter how much you control the traffic in Apapa, it would be seen as if you are doing nothing”
“NPA has reached out to the Federal Ministry of Works, we have been speaking with the Director of Works in the State, and we have asked that they should provide some palliatives around Sunrise Bus-stop.
“We were made to understand that the contract for that section of the road has just been awarded, but because of the rains, work has been delayed. There is need for that part of the road to be graded so that the Tin-Can Port corridor would begin to enjoy some measure of free flow of traffic”, he had said.
In a separate event on Thursday, the NPA management also celebrated the first female Azuimuth Stern Drive (ASD) Tug Boat Captain in Nigeriaand the whole of West Africa, Ebinipre Robinson Canus.
Ebinipre Robinson Canus is an indigene of Bayelsa State in Nigeria and a product of the National Seafarers Development Programme (NSDP) an initiative of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA)
She works with L.T.T Coastal and Marine Services, a company providing marine services for the NPA.
