INSECURITY: Merchant Sail Navy Urges Buhari to Engage Reserved Marine, Paramilitary Agencies

…Says “Equip Us with Arms, we can Deliver”

The Merchant Sail Navy International Security, popularly known as Sail Navy, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to empower the reserved marine force, and the paramilitary to assist the Nigeria Security Agencies in fighting the scourge of insecurity across the nation.

The Commander General of the Merchant Sail Navy International Security, Capt JohnLinus Okoronkwo in a press statement sent to DAILY TREND NEWS on Saturday expressed worry at the increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria, saying that it be a very good opportunity for the Federal Government to make use of the Reserve Marine Forces and the Paramilitary to assist the Military and other Security Agencies.

He explained that the Merchant Sail Navy, as a Reserve Marine Force is made up of Nigeria Citizens operating under the Laws of Corporate and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to him, the group provides operational support to the Nigerian Military and other Security Agencies, together with assisting in preventing conflict and safeguarding Nigeria Citizens.

“Some years ago some individuals formed Merchant Navy in Nigeria and where involved in impersonating the Nigerian Navy which was officially tagged illegal because there was no evidence of Association Registration, until the year 2019 December 10th, the Name Merchant Sail Navy International Security popularly known as SAIL NAVY was established and incorporated under the Corporate Affairs Commission Abuja.”

“The Federal Government should empower the associations especially the Merchant Sail Navy as a Reserve Marine Force, Equip us with Arms, Vans, hiluxs, speedboats and helicopters and use the Military for backup because we can deliver” he said

Capt. JohnLinus also advised seafarers (Maritime Graduates and Cadets) to stop impersonating the Nigerian Navy, but to focus on their Studies and Career, or better join the Military (Nigerian Navy) or the Reserve Marine Force (The Merchant Sail Navy).

He assured that the Merchant Sail Navy as a Reserve Marine Force will help to reduce Criminality, Piracy, Banditry, Kidnapping, unemployment and impersonation cases in the Country which will help to restore peace in Nigeria.

In the same vein, Capt John Linus welcomed new Chaplain Officers lead by Sail Navy Commander Ejike Bright under Enugu State Command to Support the association through the ministerial growth.

He encouraged the Chaplain officers to always pray for Nigeria and the Nigeria Security Agencies.
