The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted a forty foot container loaded with eight hundred and five (805) cartons of codeine, and
one hundred and twenty four (124) cartons of tramadol at the SIFAX 2 Terminal in Lagos.
Sources at the command confirmed to DAILY TREND NEWS on Tuesday that the container of illicit drugs was burst and examined at the terminal on Monday 26th April 2021, about 1230 hours.
The 40 ft container with reg no: TEMU 6164202 was said to have been under watchlist of the Customs for a while, but it was eventually “examined and found to contained eight hundred and five(805) cartons of codeine,and
one hundred and twenty four (124) cartons of tramadol”
“This were conceiled in about one four hundred and eighty three hot pots” the source stated
Recall that Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, Compt Yusuf Malanta had also recently showcased a similar seizure of container of illicit drugs to the media at Unity Bonded Terminal in Festac Town, Lagos.
The container was concealed with sets of cooking pots in order to escape the Eagle eyes of the customs officers. However, on physical examination, the container was bearing 732 cartons, containing 1,444 bottles of codeine.
Recall that codeine, a cough syrup, is banned by the Federal Government because of the negative effect on human lives.
