ANLCA Concludes Elections Into Western Zone Chapters
…Ojo Akintoye Emerges Chairman At Tin Can, Otunba Oyebola At PTML Chapter
The leadership of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has announced conclusion of elections into its Western Zone chapters, with Mr Ojo Peter Akintoye emerging as Chairman of the prestigious Tin Can Island Port chapter while another gladiator, Otunba Sunday Oyebola emerged as Chairman of PTML chapter.
With this, the association has now been factionalised at chapter levels in the Western Zone alone, while the eastern zone of the association remains at peace.
Recall that the association has been dragged into a protracted leadership crisis which has defiled all peaceful resolutions since year 2018.
In a statement sent to DAILY TREND NEWS at the weekend, signed by the National President, Tony Iju Nwabunike said the elections are in line with ANLCA Supreme Constitution as amended
He said such functions and powers of both the NEC and NECOM of ANLCA is to conduct credible elections into various Chapters spread across the country to bring purposeful leadership to the Chapters of the association.
“You would recall that last year ANLCA started the conduct of Chapters elections from the Northern zone which saw successful conduct of elections of the Executives of the Kano and Abuja International airports Chapters of the Association”
“On the 25th of January 2021, Association Electoral Commission (ASECO) moved to the Eastern zone of the association to conduct the Chapter elections into Onne port, Calabar port, Port Harcourt Area 1 , Onne Oil & Gas and the Port Harcourt International Airport Chapters. The elections was successfully carried out with all members and contestants satisfied with the outcome”
“In the same vain, on the 16th, February 2021, elections were conducted into some Chapters of the Western Zone of ANLCA in the strict observance of the Covid-19 protocols in Lagos. The Chapters includes, Apapa Port, Tin Can Island Port, PTML , KLT and Ikorodu” .
At the end of the election the following candidates emerged as winners: Apapa Port Chapter–Chief Sylvester Budu , Chairman; Kayode Jejelaye, Vice Chairman; Razak Ishola, Secretary; and Lawrence Uba, Assistant Secretary.
Others are Nnammocha Joseph, Financial Secretary; Hakeem Olodan, Treasurer; and Emeka Mbachu, Public Relations Officer (PRO).
Tin Can Island Port Chapter–Ojo Peters Akintoye emerged as the Chairman; Sonniel Ebonyem Onochie, Vice Chairman; Nzeribe Ebere, Secretary; and Abdulazeez Obafemi Hakeem, Assistant Secretary. Others are Olawale Cole, Treasurer; Waisiu Bunmi Osinowo, Financial Secretary; and Onome A. Joy as Public Relations Officer ( PRO).
The Port and Terminal Multipurpose Limited (PTML) elected Otunba Sunday Oyebola as their Chairman, Alhaji Lameen Muse as Vice Chairman, and Chijioke Daniel as Secretary. Also at the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT), Esther Oluwatoyin Oyeleke was elected as Chairman, making her the first female Chapter chairman in the Western Zone of ANLCA. While the Ikorodu chapter of the association elected Prince Lawal Jimoh as their chairman.
Nwabunike said efforts are in top gear by the ASECO to conduct credible elections into the remaining chapters of the Western Zone.
