Trouble Looms As “ANLCA 2” Sets to Conduct Tin Can Chapter Elections

…”ANLCA 1″ Cries Foul Over Western Zone Elections

By DAPO OLAWUNI

There is palpable anxiety in the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) as a faction of the association led by its Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman, Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha is set to conduct the much awaited elections into its Tin Can Island Chapter tommorow, Thursday 14th January 2021.

It is no longer news that ANLCA has been divided into two factions, “ANLCA 1” and “ANLCA 2” even as the faction led by Tony Iju Nwabunike has discredited the purported Western Zone elections being conducted by the faction led by Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha.

Inside sources confirmed to DAILY TREND NEWS that the Alhaji Mustapha led faction had coducted By-elections into the Lagos Airport Chapter on Tuesday, even as it is proposing to conduct Chairmanship elections of Tin Can Island chapter tomorrow.

Apart from being the most volatile chapter, all eyes are always on the Tin Can Island chapter because it has always been a bride of ANLCA, and also regarded as a “cash cow”, next to the Lagos airport chapter.

Members of the association from both factions who spoke with our correspondent expressed fears that should the ANLCA 1″ try to interfer in the elections tommorow, it could lead to a clash and breakdown of law and order at the port.

Recall that the Tin Can Island Port Chapter has been calm and peaceful since its incumbent Chairman, Prince Segun Oduntan came into the saddle. Oduntan has been able to maintain peace at the port, even as he established a cordial working relationship with the Nigeria Customs Service and supporting revenue generation into federation government coffers.

The notoriety reputation of Tin Can Island Port has also changed under Prince Oduntan’s administration as ANLCA chairman.

Meanwhile, the the “ANLCA 1″ led by Tony Iju Nwabunike has described as illegal the purported Western Zone elections that were held by Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha group

In a disclaimer notice signed by the National secretary of the association, Alhaji Babatunde Mukaila, a copy of which was sent to our correspondent, the association stated that the Chairman of the Association Electoral Committee (ASECO) remains Barr. Raymond Onyimba and not Chima Obi Best who was installed by the Mustapha group

ANLCA 1” further alleged that the purported ASECO chairman is a defaulter and as such does not qualify for to be chairman of the association electoral commission which it said rendered the result the elections as illegitimate.

The disclaimer reads “The National President Iju Tony Nwabunike has reacted to false publication signed by one Chima Obi Best claiming Chairmanship of ANLCA Association Electoral Commission (ASECO)
“For clarification, the Chairman of ANLCA ASECO remained Barr. Oyimba Raymond Enekwechi as ratified by National Executive Council (NEC)

“Consequently, Obi China Best been a member/Staff of North Atlantic Transit Limited, a defaulter Corporate Company with personal staff I.D. No. EZ1500000178 is NOT and does NOT qualifies even if any as a non-stakeholder nominal director without single share of his Corporate employer.

“The General Public and members of ANLCA are hereby enjoined to disregard such publication as expired Board of Trustee and non shareholder ordinary Corporate member does not perform ASECO Committee function in ANLCA” it stated
